Artist Statement: Wooded Earth

This globe celebrates the mature woodlands of the earth.  When a forest is mature, it reaches its last phase of succession and achieves the beauty that has often taken many centuries and sometimes millennium to develop.  This globe, made from a tree that died a natural death, expresses the need for wise planning practices.  By managing large areas of woodlands to reach the beauty of their maturity we would sequester more CO2 and have beautiful areas of nature for enjoyment.  Trees to be used for lumber and other utility should be replanted and farmed in additional woodlots.

ARTIST

Ronnie Swire Siegel

MATERIALS

3.5 inch diameter solid wood sphere with stain and varnish.
